THE DALBY COAT OF
ARMS
In December 1983, the Council
received its official Coat of Arms. The
basic colours of the Coat of Arms are blue and gold and
black. The central and most significant element of the Armorial
Bearings is the shield, which is divided into three sections.
The top section is blue, and represents the sky. The centre
is gold, and represents wheat. The bottom portion is black,
representing the rich black soils of the Dalby region. The
line dividing the gold and blue sections is wavy, thus depicting
the Bunya Mountains. The line dividing the gold and the
black on the central cogwheel, recognises the industry of
the district, half wheat and half soil, and emphasises the
close relationship between machinery, working the soil,
and the harvesting of the crop.
The Crest depicts a Mural Crown, the long-standing
symbol of municipalities, above which are ears of golden wheat.
The supports on either side represent the
area's saleyards industry, 'Dexter', a Merino ram, and ‘Sinister’,
a Hereford bull, each standing on a spray of Silky Oak (Gravellea
Robusta). Both animals have golden horns, which depict their
economic value to the community. The base upon which the supporters
rest is called the 'Compartment', and is ornamented with the
floral emblem of Dalby (Gravellea Robusta).
The Pennant carries the Seal of Dalby, the
Cog and Wheel, and the motto: Respice, Aspice, Prospice.
THE DALBY TOWN LOGO
RATIONALE

The logo uses a single line that
begins by forming a three leafed plant in the background and
finishes with forming the letter "d".
The fresh, relaxed, smooth-flowing
look is representative of the Dalby lifestyle. The three leafed
plant is a reflection of our rural surroundings, context and
background. It is a symbol for the new growth, potential and
productivity Dalby displays, particularly in the service,
retail and manufacturing industries.
The logo, created from a single
line is like a path. The path goes from strong colour to light,
fading into the distance - an unbroken link to our past and
the foundation for the new. This line also signifies our unity
and sense of community whereas the variegated colours proclaim
our diversity. The path forms a crossroads which places Dalby
in the centre of the district, as its heart.
