Discount
Rate accounts are due and payable on or before the discount expiry and
due date which is clearly shown on the Rate Notice. Council is authorised
by law to allow discount as recognition of prompt payment. Each year
the rate discount is reviewed when adopting the annual budget.
Payments
Payments of accounts may be made personally at the
Council Office where credit card and EFTPOS facilities
are available or by cheque or money order made
payable to the Dalby Town Council and posted to
PO Box 551 Dalby Qld 4405.
Payment By Instalment
To assist property owners, ratepayers can pay rates
in advance by small amounts at regular intervals
prior to receiving the rate notice. Discount will
still be allowed provided the total net payment is
received by the discount expiry and due date.
Council now offers the option of a Direct Debit facility
where council can deduct regular payments from your
bank account. Ratepayers wishing to take advantage
of this scheme should contact the Rates Section by
telephoning 4672 1143.
Pensioner Rebates
Persons who have a Social Security Pensioner Concession
Card or Veteran's Affairs Repatriation Health Card
for all conditions or Veteran's Affairs Pensioner
Concession Card and who reside on a residential property
in the Town are entitled to apply for State Government
and Council rebates on rates and charges. Application
forms are available by contacting Council's Rates
Section on 4672 1143.
How Rates Are Determined
Rates are based on the unimproved (vacant) value
of a property determined by the State Government
Department of Natural Resources.
Council estimates its receipts and expenditure and
adopts a budget each year. After taking into account
all other sources of revenue the balance is obtained
by rates. Council has adopted differential rating
and uses the unimproved capital valuation from the
Department to obtain the rate in the dollar that
will apply.
Vacant Charges
Properties that have no residence or activity associated
with them but are capable of being connected to the
water supply or sewerage system are subject to vacant
charges for the availability of these services.
This charge meets the cost of mains, treatment works
etc. which have been designed to cater for current
population and projected growth needs.

writing, any change of address.
