Routine road and drainage maintenance is programmed on a zonal system. The Town has been divided into six zones. Bitumen patching, drain cleaning and mowing are performed on a rotational basis so that the whole of the Town receives attention.
Emergency or dangerous situations should be reported immediately by calling the Council office or Council's after hours number so that the matter can be attended to promptly.
Responsibility rests with the owner or occupier of a property to repair and maintain the invert crossing granting access to the property. Council may carry out repairs to the invert crossing within the road reserve if requested by the property owner. The cost of these repairs is the responsibility of the property owner.
A private invert crossing can be constructed by a private contractor or by Council. It must be constructed to Council's specification and inspected by a Council officer to ensure the level at the water table allows stormwater to flow freely to a collection point.
