TOWN PLANNING

Town planning (or land use planning) is one of the most important mechanisms available to local government in achieving important social, cultural and environment management goals. It is about making living and working environments safe, healthy, efficient and aesthetically pleasing through the arrangement of land uses. Town planning also provides certainty for people by outlining to them what can be expected to occur in their local communities.

Council has a number of planning documents to guide the development of our community. Council's principle planning document for the Town is the Town of Dalby Planning Scheme. This document contains provisions for the regulation, implementation and administration of the Planning Scheme and the statement of objectives and criteria for the implementation of the Strategic Plan. As a schedule to the Planning Scheme are three (3) plans: The Strategic Plan, the Zoning Map and the Regulation Map, and nineteen (19) Local Planning Policies.

Council's Planning Scheme is available for inspection and purchase at Council's Community Services Section. These documents describe how every parcel of land within the Town may be used either now or in the future. All residents of the Town are encouraged to familiarise themselves with and participate in the periodic review of these documents.
