Dalby
boasts a full range of sporting activities and has many excellent
facilities, sports include a full range of football codes,
bowling, croquet, tennis, golf, basketball, netball, cricket,
squash, water skiing, swimming, aero, pistol, gun, pony and
hack clubs.
The Dalby and District Tennis Association
has 14 top quality courts, surfaced with a cushioned hard
court surface, making it one of the largest hard court tennis
facilities in Queensland. The association has a strong local
following, with regular tournaments and fixtures throughout
the year, catering for all members of the community, including
juniors and veterans.
In October of each year, the association hosts
a major international tennis tournament,
the Women's Satellite Tournament, attracting many world ranked
players to the Dalby courts.
The Dalby and Northern Downs Jockey
Club with a calendar comprising of 12 meetings per
year, with the biggest of these race meetings held during
the annual Australian Cotton Week festival in March.
The Dalby Picnic Races, held
each Labour Day long weekend, offering prize money over the
six-event program.
The Dalby Swimming Club annual
Open Swimming Carnival is held on the last Sunday in November,
arguably the largest one day swimming carnival in Country
Queensland. Attracting 1,734 nominations in 2002.
PCYC (Police Citizens
Youth Club) was established in Dalby 1989, previously the
Dalby Community Centre constructed in 1983, offers a variety
of activities, including aerobics, after school care, vacation,
basketball, badminton, gymnastics, karate, kindy-gym, netball,
peter pan kindergarten, playgroup, futsal, volleyball, and
weight training with a purpose built gym facility.
