ANIMALS

All animals in a public place must be under effective control at all times. It is advisable that all animals in the town be readily identifiable by Council staff. Council officers may issue on the spot fines for owners of dogs or impound animals that are not under effective control, or violate other provisions of the local law.

Dogs impounded will be held at Council's Pound, located at Council's Depot on Irvingdale Road. Larger animals may be impounded at the Dalby/Wambo Saleyards.

Release times are by appointment only, and the Town Ranger will accept release fees for impounded animals.

Council's Town Ranger is available during business hours and for after hours and emergency animal call outs on 0418 790 543.

Dogs: All dogs in the Dalby area must be registered from the age of three months old. Generally, only one dog is permitted to be registered on a residential block of land under 1000m2, but applications for an additional dog will be considered. Two dogs are permitted on allotments larger than 1000m2.

Cats: In residential areas, only two cats are permitted to be kept at a property. Three cats can be kept at properties in rural residential and rural areas.

Birds: Caged birds which require aviaries or large enclosures may be kept only in compliance with Council's Local Laws. Enquiries should be directed to Council's Community Services Department 4672 1151.
