Local Government is responsible for preparing and maintaining a Counter Disaster Plan for its community in accordance with the Queensland State Counter-Disaster Organisation Act and to establish and maintain a local emergency service.
The history of disasters in the Dalby-Wambo area has mostly been associated with flooding and much of the planning by the Local Counter Disaster Planning Committee has been based on such events.
Following the 1981 flood the Dalby Town and Wambo Shire Councils jointly prepared a Counter Disaster Plan in an effort to ensure that in times of emergency or disaster the most effective and economical use of all resources will occur.
The provision of information to the community in these instances is the responsibility of the Local Counter Disaster Committee as is the coordination of any assistance to the community.
Dalby Community Radio 89.9 FM has agreed in such circumstances to provide regular broadcasts of information to listeners.
To contact the Local Counter Disaster Committee Coordination Centre in times of emergency please phone 4662 6666.
