The 'Dividing Fences Act of Queensland' is administered
by the State Government Department of Justice, contact
1800 805 817. It states that neighbours should
reach agreement in writing prior to the commencement of
construction of any dividing fence. The agreement should
cover all aspects such as height, costs and financial
contribution by both parties.
Unless a fence is in excess of two (2) metres high, development approval is not required and Council has no involvement. Specific rules apply to fences on corner sites.
