Council has a mosquito control program, which aims to stop mosquitoes breeding on land under control of Council, Crown Land and privately owned land. Problem areas are generally treated five days after rain. The agents used are environmentally friendly and target mosquito larvae only.
Residents can help to eliminate mosquitoes breeding in their backyards by ensuring that water does not lie stagnant in any container, such as birdbaths, pot plant saucers, tins and bottles.
